₹4 Crore Approved to Develop National Poet Maithili Sharan Gupt’s Ancestral Residence as a Museum at the Request of Former Chief Minister Dr. ‘Nishank’
Lucknow, : Former Chief Minister of Uttarakhand and former Union Education Minister Dr. Ramesh Pokhriyal ‘Nishank’ paid a cordial courtesy visit to Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath at the Chief Minister’s residence on Kalidas Marg, Lucknow, on Friday.
During the meeting, meaningful discussions were held on nation-building, the promotion of Indian culture and literature, the establishment of the Himalayan Museum at Lekhak Gaon in Thano, Dehradun, and various contemporary issues.
Dr. Nishank urged Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath to develop the ancestral residence of Rashtrakavi and Padma Bhushan awardee Maithili Sharan Gupt, located in Chirgaon, Jhansi, as the “Rashtrakavi Maithili Sharan Gupt Museum.” Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath readily accepted the proposal and approved ₹4 crore for the initiative.
Dr. Nishank said that the literature of Rashtrakavi Maithili Sharan Gupt has been a powerful voice of Indian culture, national consciousness and patriotism. Developing his ancestral residence into a museum will be an important step towards preserving his literary legacy and carrying the spirit of patriotism embodied in his works to future generations.
During the meeting, Dr. Nishank also formally invited Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath to the “Lekhak Gaon International Festival-2026,” to be organized at India’s first “Lekhak Gaon” (Writers’ Village) nestled in the Himalayas at Thano, Dehradun. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath graciously accepted the invitation and assured that he would visit Lekhak Gaon.
Dr. Nishank expressed his gratitude to Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath for this significant initiative and for approving the proposal to preserve the literary heritage of Rashtrakavi Maithili Sharan Gupt.
