Bhopal : Friday, July 25, 2025, Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav has said that Madhya Pradesh is maternal home of rivers. We do not have glaciers here, but we do have dense forests and water resources. To ensure that no village and no field in the state is deprived of water, our government has started work on three major river linking projects in state. Parvati-Kalisindh-Chambal River Link Project is one of them. Guna district will receive great benefit from both PKC and Kumbhraj Major Irrigation Project, as water will reach every village and every field here. This project will transform image of Guna district.
Chief Minister Dr. Yadav was addressing the gratitude gathering organised by people of the district in Binaganj of Chachoura Assembly Constituency in Guna district for the PKC River Link Project. On this
occasion, Chief Minister Dr. Yadav expressed his gratitude to Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi for the approval of Kumbharaj Major Irrigation Project costing about Rs 5138 crore. With this project, more than 97500 hectares of agricultural land in Guna district has now received facility of year-round irrigation.
In the programme, Chief Minister Dr. Yadav inaugurated and performed foundation-laying of 604 development works of various categories worth a total of Rs 175.76 crore for overall development of Guna district.
Chief Minister Dr. Yadav announced the provision of Rs 4 lakh for liver transplant of Shri Rajesh Khandelwal’s daughter of village Binaganj. Rs 1 lakh has already been provided earlier by the government for his daughter’s treatment. Chief Minister Dr. Yadav also announced Rs 1 lakh financial assistance for Smt. Mamta Vishwakarma. The Chief Minister also announced Rs 12 lakh for complete development of Gaushala in Binaganj.
The Chief Minister visited the exhibition organised at the programme site. Chief Minister Dr. Yadav formally inaugurated the event by performing kanya pujan and lighting a lamp. He was welcomed with an idol of Lord Ganesh made from cow dung. Women presented two large rakhis to Chief Minister on the occasion of Shravan month.
Chief Minister Dr. Yadav distributed benefits to identified beneficiaries under government schemes, including Ladli Laxmi Yojana and State Rural Livelihood Mission. He also released a guide focused on tourist destinations of Chachoura.
Chief Minister Dr. Yadav said that until 2003, there was an opposition government in the state, and during that time farmers did not get sufficient water for irrigation. The government of that time made farmers yearn for every drop. He said the area under irrigation in the state has reached 55 lakh hectares.
The fragrance of Guna’s roses and coriander signifies the hard work of farmers here. Guna district is gateway to Malwa and Chambal. He said that once upon a time, the Chambal region faced a severe dacoit crisis. After our government came to power, dacoits were eliminated.
Had the dacoit issue been resolved 50 years ago, this region would have developed immensely. The Parvati, Kalisindh and Chambal River Scheme is a blessing of Baba Mahakal. He said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, river linking projects in Madhya Pradesh are progressing.
The Parvati-Kalisindh-Chambal River Link Project will benefit 13 districts of Chambal and Malwa, and also 13 districts of Rajasthan. The opposition governments had opposed PKC project and stalled it for several years. Under the leadership of Prime Minister Shri Modi, a solution was found. With PKC’s supporting Kumbhraj Major Irrigation Project, now every tehsil, village and field of Guna district will benefit from irrigation and drinking water.
Chief Minister Dr. Yadav said that under the guidance of Prime Minister Shri Modi, 4 crore poor people have received pucca houses. Prime Minister Shri Modi does not own a house himself, but he is making houses for crores of people. Poor and needy are getting benefit of Ayushman Bharat and free ration schemes.
Chief Minister Dr. Yadav said that since the month of Sawan is underway, sisters will receive a gift of Rs 250. From this Diwali, Ladli sisters in the state will receive Rs 1500 per month. If Ladli sisters work in factories, they will be given Rs 14,000 as incentive wages. Youth working in factories for employment will be given Rs 5000 as incentive amount by the government. Under the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi, along with the central government, we are giving a total of Rs 12,000 to eligible farmers, in which Rs 6000 is from the Centre and Rs 6000 from the State Government.
To relieve farmers from electricity bills, solar-powered irrigation pumps are being distributed in the state. Chief Minister Dr. Yadav said that the state government is trying every possible way to preserve heritage while connecting the state with stream of development. The development journey is continuously progressing in state.
Chief Minister Dr. Yadav said that seriously injured and poor, needy people are getting benefit of air ambulance service in the state. Under “Rahveer Yojana,” those who help and take road accident victims to hospital will be given an incentive amount of Rs 25,000.
Chief Minister Dr. Yadav said that our government has started giving grants to cow herders to promote milk production. The subsidy for Gaushalas has been increased from Rs 20 per cow to Rs 40 per cow. We will develop all places associated with Lord Shri Krishna as Dham (holy places).
Water Resources Minister Shri Tulsiram Silawat said that the Parvati-Kalisindh-Chambal (PKC) River Link Project is an unimaginable feat. Its cost is Rs 72,000 crore. The project will benefit 13 districts of Chambal and Malwa region. Six lakh hectares of agricultural land will be irrigated. He said 40 lakh population will benefit from this project.
The area under irrigation in the state, which was once 7 lakh hectares, has now increased to 55 lakh hectares. Shri Silawat said that Ken-Betwa Link River Project worth Rs 44,605 crore will irrigate 1.11 lakh hectares of land. The project will generate 103 megawatts of electricity and provide clean drinking water to about 44 lakh people.
The third major river project — Tapi Mega Recharge Project — is a Rs 19,000 crore scheme. This will benefit two districts of the state — Khandwa and Burhanpur. It is the world’s first groundwater recharge project.
Food, Civil Supplies, and Consumer Protection Minister and Guna District In-charge Minister Shri Govind Singh Rajput also addressed the programme. He expressed heartfelt gratitude to Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav for providing the state with such a major project under their joint leadership.
Chachoura MLA Smt. Priyanka Meena said that ERCP-PKC Project is the country’s biggest project, which is now being realised on the land of Madhya Pradesh. Kumbhraj Major Irrigation Project will benefit 4 districts. Farmers will receive sufficient water for irrigation and industries.
The programme was attended by Rajgarh–Biaora MP Shri Rodmal Nagar, MLA Shri Pannalal Shakya, District Panchayat President Shri Arvind Dhakad, District President Shri Dharmendra Sikarwar, Shri Rahul Kothari and other local public representatives, along with a large number of farmers and villagers.
