ROORKEE: The election of the Uttarakhand Rugby Association was conducted peacefully and amicably, with all office-bearers being elected unopposed.

Yashwant Singh was elected president, while Ayush Saini was elected secretary, Himanshu Kumar treasurer, Akash Singh joint secretary and Suryakant Saini vice-president. Manoj Singh Negi and Himani Saini were elected as members of the association.

Advocate Prashant Rajput, who served as the election officer, played a key role in ensuring that the election process was conducted in a fair and orderly manner. Haridwar district sports officer Ravindra Bhandari was also present during the proceedings.

Following the election, the newly elected office-bearers congratulated one another and honoured each other by presenting garlands, shawls and momentos.

The new executive committee resolved to strengthen rugby in Uttarakhand, provide better opportunities to players and promote the sport across districts as well as rural areas of the state.

The newly elected office-bearers said the association would focus on taking rugby to villages and schools, identifying emerging talent and providing players with better platforms to compete at district, state, national and international levels.

Members and officials present at the election congratulated the new team and expressed confidence that under the new leadership, the Uttarakhand Rugby Association would achieve new milestones and help establish rugby as a stronger sporting discipline across the state.
