Dehradun: Dr Ravindra Kumar Saini, retired principal of SGRR Inter College, Sahaspur, and director of the National Character Building Campaign, Dehradun, has congratulated Uttarakhand Governor Lt Gen Gurmit Singh on completing five years in office.
Saini said that during his tenure, the Governor had given special attention to education, character building among youth, the welfare and recognition of serving and retired defence personnel, culture, patriotism and social causes.
Describing Lt Gen Gurmit Singh as a simple, approachable and sensitive personality, Saini said the Governor’s interaction with teachers and social workers had been particularly inspiring.
Saini also recalled that the Governor had honoured him on around 10 occasions at different events. He said the gesture reflected the Governor’s warmth, humility and respect for people working in the fields of education and social service.
‘Vatayana’ launched at Raj Bhavan
Saini also highlighted his English poetic biography, Vatayana, based on the life and personality of Lt Gen Gurmit Singh. The book was formally launched by the Governor at a ceremonial function held at Raj Bhavan on August 22 in the presence of several dignitaries.
Saini said the Governor’s five-year tenure would be remembered for his commitment to duty, national service, sensitivity and inspirational leadership. He extended his best wishes to Lt Gen Gurmit Singh for his future endeavours and continued service to the nation.
