Interlocking-tile road from main road to Bilaspur Enclave to improve connectivity; PWD asked to maintain construction quality

DEHRADUN,: Cabinet minister Ganesh Joshi on Tuesday laid the foundation stone for an interlocking-tile road project connecting the main road with Bilaspur Enclave in Bilaspur Kandli, Dehradun district. The project is being executed by the Uttarakhand Public Works Department (PWD) at an estimated cost of Rs 210.61 lakh (around Rs 2.10 crore) under the state plan.
The project is expected to improve local connectivity and provide residents with better access to the surrounding areas. The proposed interlocking-tile road is aimed at strengthening basic road infrastructure in the locality and improving ease of movement for residents.
Speaking at the foundation stone-laying ceremony, Joshi said the state government was working to improve road infrastructure in both rural and urban areas and ensure that residents have access to safe and convenient roads.
He said roads form an important part of basic infrastructure and have a direct impact on connectivity and local development. The government, he added, was giving priority to road construction, improvement and upgradation works in areas where better connectivity is required.
Joshi said completion of the interlocking-tile road from the main road to Bilaspur Enclave would make daily commuting easier for local residents and contribute to improving the area’s basic infrastructure.
He also emphasised the importance of quality control during construction. The minister directed PWD officials to ensure that the project is executed strictly according to prescribed technical standards, specifications and departmental provisions. He said construction quality should not be compromised and the work should be completed according to the approved requirements.
Several development works underway
Joshi said development activities were already being carried out in the village through various government schemes. Under a Chief Minister’s announcement, construction of a school building for 11 GRRC School is among the works being undertaken in the area.
He said several other development works were also being implemented and assured residents that additional projects would be taken up according to local requirements.
The minister further said that work would soon be undertaken for the construction of a community hall in the area. The proposed facility is expected to provide residents with a dedicated space for community programmes and local activities.
The foundation stone-laying programme was attended by Minister of State Jyoti Kotia, Minister of State (Retd Col) R S Bhandari, village head Vinod Awasthi, BDC member Deepika Kandari, Captain Chandan Singh Bisht, Manju Deupa, Nain Singh Panwar, Vikram Kandari and Girish Uniyal, besides PWD assistant engineer Chandrakala, departmental officials and local residents.
The road project is part of ongoing infrastructure works being undertaken under the state plan, with the government focusing on improving local connectivity and extending basic facilities to residents in developing areas of Dehradun.
