Students urged to uphold discipline, social responsibility and com jimitment to nation

DEHRADUN: The Sarawati Vidya Mandir Inter College at Nathuwala reverberated with patriotic fervour on Friday as 1,272 students, parents, teachers and members of the community came together for a special ‘Vande Mataram’ programme.
The programme focused on the historical and national significance of ‘Vande Mataram’ and the responsibilities of citizens towards the nation. Speakers urged students to go beyond academic learning and develop a strong sense of discipline, social responsibility, patriotism and commitment to the larger interests of the country.
Addressing the gathering as the chief speaker, Sanjay, Prant Prachar Pramukh of Uttarakhand, said patriotism should not remain confined to emotions or slogans but should be reflected in an individual’s conduct, decisions and actions.
“Students and young people will shape the future of the country. Along with education, they must develop discipline, values, a sense of responsibility and sensitivity towards society,” he said.
He called upon students to understand their responsibilities towards the nation and society and contribute to the national interest through their everyday actions. He also stressed the importance of remaining committed to the unity and integrity of the country.
‘Vande Mataram’ more than a slogan
Speaking about the significance of ‘Vande Mataram’, Sanjay said the expression represents respect, dedication and a sense of belonging towards the motherland.
He said students should understand the sentiment associated with the national song and incorporate the values of commitment and responsibility towards the country into their lives. He also emphasised that nation-building is not limited to any particular section of society and that young people can contribute through responsible conduct, hard work and service to society.
Yashveer Rawat attended the event as the special guest. Prof Dr KS Rawat of Hemvati Nandan Bahuguna Garhwal University, who was the programme observer, also addressed and guided the students.
The programme was chaired by Honorary Lieutenant Subhash Chandra Bhatt, who stressed the need to combine patriotism with discipline and a strong sense of duty. He said that developing responsible and disciplined citizens should remain an important part of students’ education and overall personality development.
School campus turns into a sea of patriotic voices
The atmosphere at the school remained charged with patriotic enthusiasm throughout the programme. Students, teachers, parents and guests participated in the event with enthusiasm.
The programme concluded with a collective chanting of ‘Vande Mataram’, with the voices of all 1,272 participants echoing across the school campus.
School Management Committee chairman Rajendra Ramola thanked the guests, parents, teachers, students and all those associated with the event for their participation and cooperation. He said programmes of this nature provide students an opportunity to understand their responsibilities towards society and the nation.
The event was organised under the direction of the School Management Committee and Principal Shishupal Singh Rawat. Anand Chhamalwan was the programme coordinator.
Among those present were School Management Committee chairman Rajendra Ramola, manager Prem Chaumala, co-manager Anup Semwal, treasurer Naveen Rawat, Nathuwala councillor Swati Dobhal, Major Mahavir Singh Rawat, members of the management committee, teachers, parents, students and other guests.
