Fashion, handloom heritage and tourism to come together in a grand cultural showcase
Dehradun: In an effort to promote Uttarakhand’s rich textile heritage, fashion creativity and tourism potential, the prestigious “Dehradun Couture Week” will be organised in Dehradun on May 17, 2026. The event aims to bring together fashion, culture and traditional craftsmanship on a single platform while positioning the city as an emerging fashion destination.
The announcement was made during a press conference organised by Fawelle Product and Services (OPC) Pvt. Ltd., a New Delhi-based company. According to the organisers, the event will provide a meaningful platform for fashion designers, artisans, models and local industries while celebrating the cultural identity of Uttarakhand.
Designers and Models to Share the Ramp
“Dehradun Couture Week” will feature collections from renowned as well as emerging fashion designers from Uttarakhand and other parts of India. Each designer will present exclusive couture collections inspired by Indian craftsmanship, contemporary aesthetics and the cultural identity of the Himalayan state.
The event will also showcase celebrity showstoppers, professional fashion models and regional talents. Importantly, aspiring local models from Uttarakhand will get an opportunity to gain exposure and professional experience in the fashion industry.
Focus on Uttarakhand’s Handloom Heritage
One of the key objectives of the event is to promote the traditional handloom heritage of Uttarakhand. Designers will incorporate indigenous weaving styles, handcrafted textiles, woollen products and traditional artisanal techniques into their collections.
This initiative is expected to provide greater visibility and market opportunities for local artisans and traditional craft communities.
Boost to Tourism and Cultural Promotion
Organisers believe that the event will also contribute positively to Uttarakhand’s tourism sector. Fashion enthusiasts, media houses, influencers, buyers and visitors from across the country are expected to attend the event.
By highlighting the scenic beauty, hospitality, culture and craftsmanship of Dehradun and Uttarakhand, the couture week aims to position the state as a destination for luxury cultural and fashion events.
“More Than a Fashion Show”
Speaking at the press conference, Sanjog Patnaik, Director of the organising company, said that Dehradun Couture Week is not just a fashion event but a movement to celebrate the state’s heritage and empower local talent.
He added that through fashion the organisers want to connect tradition with modernity and showcase the artistic identity of Uttarakhand to a wider audience.
Prominent Personalities Present
The press conference was also attended by Ritu Bahaguna, Seema Arvind, and social worker and beauty & skin expert Meenu Chhada.
An audition for models was also conducted on the day of the press conference, where several local participants showcased their talent.
