Dehradun: Kumari Drishti, a resident of Vijay Colony slum area, had discontinued her studies after passing Class 10. Due to economic and social challenges, her dream of pursuing higher education seemed incomplete. However, the inspiration and guidance of a dedicated teacher transformed the course of her life.
Dr. Babita Sahotra, a teacher at DAV Inter College, was visiting the slum area to motivate children towards education when she met Drishti’s mother, Bhanu. During their conversation, she learned that Drishti had dropped out of school after completing Class 10. Dr. Sahotra later visited their home and spoke with Drishti in detail. She explained the importance of education and encouraged her to continue her studies.
Through the efforts of Dr. Babita Sahotra, Drishti was enrolled as a private student in Class 11 at DAV Inter College. With dedication and hard work, she continued her education and successfully passed the Intermediate Examination in 2026 with a Second Division, proving her determination and perseverance.
On Thursday, Drishti visited DAV Inter College along with her father, where Dr. Babita Sahotra presented her Intermediate mark sheet. The joy of Drishti and her family was evident on the occasion. The family expressed their gratitude to Dr. Sahotra, stating that this achievement would not have been possible without her encouragement and support.
Dr. Babita Sahotra said that education is the most powerful tool for bringing positive change in a child’s life. She added that if capable members of society come forward to guide such children, many hidden talents can achieve great heights.
Drishti’s success has now become a source of inspiration for other children living in slum areas. Her achievement sends a strong message that with timely guidance, encouragement, and determination, success can be achieved regardless of circumstances.
