Sparsh Himalaya University Launches Cleanliness Fortnight Campaign from Jeevanwala Village to Turn Cleanliness into a People’s Movement

Dehradun: As part of the Cleanliness Fortnight (Swachhata Pakhwada) being observed to mark five years of Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami’s tenure, Sparsh Himalaya University and Himalayan Ayurvedic Medical College jointly launched a cleanliness and tree plantation drive on July 5, 2026, at Gram Panchayat Jeevanwala, Fatehpur Tanda.

The campaign was inaugurated by the Chief Guest, Vidushi Nishank, Vice-Chairperson of Sparsh Himalaya University and Director of Lekhak Gaon (Writers’ Village), by planting a sapling.

Addressing the gathering, Vidushi Nishank said that cleanliness is not merely a campaign but a way of life. She emphasized that a clean and green environment forms the foundation of a healthy society. She urged citizens to transform cleanliness into a people’s movement and actively participate in environmental conservation by planting more trees.

During the programme, participants collectively resolved that the initiative would not remain confined to a single day but would continue every Sunday through regular cleanliness drives and public awareness activities. The organizers stated that the initiative would serve as an important step towards social development, community participation, and environmental conservation.

As part of the campaign, an extensive cleanliness drive was carried out across the village, and several fruit-bearing saplings, including mango, guava, and lemon, were planted to promote environmental protection and spread the message of “Clean Village, Healthy Village.”

The programme was attended by Dr. Rakesh Sundriyal, Pro Vice-Chancellor of Sparsh Himalaya University; Dr. Pradeep Kothiyal, Joint Director; Chetan Gaur; Urvashi Semwal; Dr. Naveen Jasola; faculty members and students of the university; along with Gurjeet Singh (Ladi), Gram Pradhan of Jeevanwala; Gram Panchayat members Diwan Singh, Dimple Saini, Sanjay Pal, Ajit Singh (Hunny), Purvinder Kaur, and a large number of local residents.

All participants pledged to continue the cleanliness and environmental conservation campaign with sustained public participation in the coming weeks.
