Cleanliness Must Become a People’s Movement: Vidushi ‘Nishank’
(Sparsh Himalaya University’s Swachhta Pakhwada Campaign Continues)

Dehradun: As part of the ongoing Swachhta Pakhwada (Cleanliness Fortnight), a special cleanliness drive was organized at Dashmesh Darbar Chali Mukte, Fatehpur, Majri, and the Jeevanwala campus under the joint aegis of Sparsh Himalaya University and Himalaya Ayurvedic Medical College.

Leading the campaign, Vidushi Nishank, Vice-Chairperson of the University and Director of Lekhak Gaon (Writers’ Village), said, “Cleanliness is not merely a personal habit; it is a matter of social awareness and collective responsibility. A clean, healthy, and culturally enriched India can only be built when society itself comes forward to embrace cleanliness as a shared mission.” She urged young people to make cleanliness an integral part of their daily lives and inspire others to do the same.

Gurjeet Singh (Ladi), Gram Pradhan of Jeevanwala Gram Panchayat, appreciated the awareness initiatives being undertaken by Sparsh Himalaya University in rural areas. He stated that a clean environment cannot be achieved through government efforts alone; it requires the active participation of every citizen.

On the occasion, university faculty members, staff, students, and local residents carried out an extensive cleanliness drive across the campus and surrounding areas. They also pledged to continue promoting cleanliness through sustained public participation.

The programme was attended by Dr. Pradeep Kothiyal, Joint Director of the University; Chetan Gaur; Dr. Urvashi Semwal; Deveshwari; villagers from Jeevanwala Gram Panchayat; university students; and local residents, all of whom actively participated in the campaign.
